    Awesome Shade

So this afternoon I was waiting for a friend outside of thr Library at American River College and it was warm and unpleasant. I saw this tree and walked beneath it and it was several degrees cooler beneath its leaf filled branches. I really do.love trees. The flora on the campus is awesome because of all the related programs.

This is really rude and selfish. This was one of the last days of class.

    Autobots Make Me Smile

Who knew that the first autobot I encountered would be a Dodge Charger.

    Bad Azz

So it is a Bad Azz Dodge Charger Autobot. Was Bumble Bee a Dodge Charger?

    More than meets the eye.

This car really was More Than Meets The Eye. The Owner of this car just went where only truly the most nerdy dare tread at this level of fandom. This is serious Brony level fandom.

    Awesome Custom Rims

Even the customized rims completely compliment the bad azz theme. Normally I think custom rims are a waste of money but in this case of bad azz custom nerdy theming I say it is awesome.

The custom theme is readily apparent and fits with the overall look and feel of this awesome TARDIS. Tires And Relative Devices In Street.

    Robots In Disguise

Ok, there ia not an 80’s kid alive that does not now have the “Robots in disguise” mechanical voice in their heads. Even if the “More than meets the eye” above did not do it.

    My handwritten note

It made me smile and I wanted to share that with them. The owner of this car is a fellow nerd and I think my letter and this blog will hopefully make them smile. It would be awesome if they introduced themselves in a comment.

My note tucked in to the wiper. I never touched the car as that would have been rude and impolite in my opinion.

    Campus Crime

For the size of the campus and the number of police employed and deployed at any given time it sure seems like there is something wrong with this picture.

As spring progresses towards summer, the Aloe Vera flowers fade away like some kind of sarcastic metaphor for my life. Thankfully I have amazing friends who are there for me.

    Illogical Planning

Less then two weeks of school left, finals begin next Monday.  Does it make sense to.close the student center where students study the week before exams?

    What is water?

Wow this is really epic!  Listen and think about the message in this because it is really an amazing spoken word piece.

In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn’t become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we’ve ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.
We made this video, built around an abridged version of the original audio recording, with the hopes that the core message of the speech could reach a wider audience who might not have otherwise been interested. However, we encourage everyone to seek out the full speech (because, in this case, the book is definitely better than the movie).
-The Glossary Read the full speech here:

    Tentative Fall Schedule

image There are something like 30,000 students currently enrolled at American River College and they assign enrollment dates so that the system does not get overwhelmed with students.  Unfortunately the classes begin to fill up well before some people even get the chance to enroll.  Notice, I am on the wait list for the Anthropology class, but my friend got in last night and is not on the wait list, so in the intervening hours the class filled up.

Even though the college limits you to 18 units for both the summer and fall semesters when registration opens, it does not reduce the number of classes that fill up.  The part that pisses me off the most is that I know that by the last day to drop with a “W” for Withdrawal on your transcript will see most of the classes lose a large percentage of their students.  Classes that I could have gotten in and made it through.  Now, I realize that I dropped the ASL class, but I honestly tried to stick it out.  I only changed my mind when I realized that most of the class failed a quiz and the teacher had to give it again because the results were so dismal and in his note he said that the students misunderstood the format.  Hah, we just didn’t get taught the necessary skills, but I digress.

So, the above are the Pilates and a Yoga class I would like to take in the fall to round out my fulltime schedule.  Unfortunately the classes are full and therefore closed, so what I might do is just show up the first day for both classes to make sure that everyone shows up since a lot can happen between now and the fall.  I will also continually check to see of this status changes as people drop out of college over the summer.  I am not sure how my body will react to both Yoga and Pilates but I am sure that it cannot be anything but good for me.  The idea is to try and lose 100 pounds by Christmas.  This way I don’t feel like I need to act like Kevin Smith and purchase two tickets on the flight to keep from being thrown off for being a fat white guy, mainly because I just do not want to be a fat white guy anymore.  I tried it for a while and have decided it just is not as fun as it is cracked up to be.  So wish me luck.  I hope to get in to them. 🙂
